That time I escaped from fitness camp…

Hey all.

So a personal post for me this time…

Never quite happy with my shape, I decided to embark on pastures new and signed up for a 3-day fitness camp at Hillmotts in Oxfordshire this week.

41310807_306051759949688_2748652582653132800_nHowever, I wish I hadn’t.

Basically, I ended up escaping (yes actually escaping) after just a day and a half as I was in agony from the intense workouts.

I know going to a camp like this, you’re going to be worked hard. However, I felt like I was pushed way too far in the HIIT (high-intensity) workouts straight away – leaving me in pain and unable to do anything else.

Advised by my campmates that being in pain was the norm, I tried to push through, however ended up pretty much in tears mid-hike as I couldn’t keep up as my legs just wouldn’t work.

The instructors looked at me a bit like I was being a drama queen after already telling me off in workouts as I should do better as I’m ‘young’ (I’m not that young thanks, I’m 28).

However I FINALLY convinced them to let me go back to the house alone and mourn my legs while rested up in bed.

I was then that I realised no beach bod was worth this as I phoned my trusty Dad Glynn (known as Glenda – don’t ask).

Ever the gent, he asked me if I wanted him to pick me up, even though he was in Portsmouth.

I pretended to think about this for half an hour before my bags were literally packed and I was awaiting his arrival at a disused bus shelter after sneaking out before the doors were locked at 9pm (!!). 41092111_525744691221191_4530638830205665280_n

Finally I was set free and didn’t face the agony of doing another burpee while my legs felt like they would break in two.

Overall, I don’t massively regret the experience as it gave me a good story and the people (who weren’t the instructors) were nice. The food was also tasty and I was surprised by how little food would fill me up.

But overall, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking to loose weight.

I like to think of myself as fairly active and go to the gym regularly but the workouts are just way too hard for any normal person.

That’s just my opinion anyway.

I’d recommend just having a week off, going to the gym most days and trying to eat healthy if you can. It’ll definitely save you a few quid and hobbling in pain for a week after like me.

But hey, you might be a sucker for suffering – it’s up to you pals!

WATCH: Jack Garratt in the R1 Live Lounge

You must have been living under a rock if you haven’t heard Jack Garrett‘s name mentioned on the music scene by now…

The 24-year-old Brit from Buckinghamshire has literally burst onto the scene recently being named by the BBC as its ‘Sound of 2016’ as well as being given the BRIT Awards Critic Choice awards – people just can’t get enough of him!

But that’s the thing, I had heard his name but not actually heard any of his music considering I don’t listen to the radio much these days.

I did hear he’d done a live lounge but I was yet to check it out until this weekend when I saw someone post a link of Twitter and I finally decided to get but act together and have a listen… and boy I wasn’t too disappointed.

Jack did a cover of his singer ‘Worry’ earlier in the month (above), and as well as being an awesome song, the singer also has the kind of passion that gets you excited and makes you really believe what he’s singing. As well as that, he also is a beast on the guitar, giving one of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard in the live lounge.

As well as his single, Jack also did a cover of music’s other man-of-the-moment, Mr Craig David, with his tune ‘7 days’, which he mashed up with Justin Timberlake‘s ‘Senorita’ – I mean can it GET any better?

I don’t know why it took me so long to listen to Jack. I guess because I sometime don’t like just jumping on a bandwagon. But it this case I have to admit, the critics were right – you don’t want to miss out on this talent!

Hope you enjoy!

Mango names Kendall as face of new S/S16 campaign

mango-names-kendall-jenner-as-face-of-ss16-campaign-300x200High street fashion brand Mango have announced that Kendall Jenner will be the new face of its spring/summer 2016 campaign, MANGO presents Tribal Spirit.

The campaign will be the first of four trends to be showcased in advertising campaigns this spring/summer 2016.

Mango will be launching a new ad campaign every month, based on fast fashion. This will feature a current trend of the moment together with the face that the company thinks best defines it.

Tribal Spirit is based on “uncontained beauty and cultural fusion, typical of the wildest savannah”, according to the Mango, which they think Kendall perfectly represents.

The campaign will be visible on the streets and on the brand’s various advertising platforms from February 1.

WATCH: Lady Gaga sings Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’

It feels like she’s been away for ages but a new video of Lady Gaga has caught my eye and I felt I had to share.

The talented singer shows off her voice recently at an event celebrating what would have been Frank Sinatra‘s 100th birthday, which was held at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas.

The show, which was aired on US TV  channel CBS on December 6, also featured covers of Sinatra’s classic songs by artists including Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys and John Legend.

Gaga’s performance of ‘New York, new York’ definitely stood out to me though – that lady really does have some serious vocals and stage presence!

Enjoy!
